The World Environment Day and related Activities at TWS

The World Environment Day and related Activities at TWS

The annual celebration of World Environment Day takes place on the 5th of June, serving as a catalyst for promoting awareness and action towards environmental protection. Since its inception in 1973, this day has served as a platform to raise consciousness about environmental issues and inspire positive transformations in our surroundings. It offers us an invaluable opportunity to reconsider our consumption patterns and the finite resources of our planet.

World Environment Day has become a global platform for public engagement, involving participation from over 143 countries each year. A unique theme is chosen annually, and for 2023, the theme is “Beat plastic pollution.”

Aligned with this theme, a series of events have been organized throughout the month to cultivate a sense of care and concern for nature among our students:

 – On the reopening day, teachers conducted a special assembly focused on Saving Nature.

 – Students from Grades 5 to 8 took part in an activity on June 9th, where they created sustainable and eco-friendly paper bags, demonstrating their commitment to reducing plastic usage.

 – A drawing competition was held on June 23rd, allowing students from all grades to express their profound connection with nature through art.

 – On June 22nd, primary students engaged in a sapling plantation campaign, providing them with a wonderful opportunity to explore and appreciate the wonders of nature.

 – On June 26th, the students and staff at TWS celebrated Green Day with great enthusiasm, highlighting the themes of nature, growth, freshness, harmony, and the environment.

These endeavours aimed to foster collaboration in building a safer, more prosperous, and equitable world for all.
